Position Details

The Office of Admissions for Graduate and Continuing Studies at The University of Tampa has an open position for an International Admissions Counselor. The counselor will perform routine and non-routine duties requiring high proficiency for international admissions work. This position reports to the Director of Graduate Admissions.

Responsibilities
1. Serve as the university liaison for international recruiters through strong communication, follow up, and regularly scheduled visits to each partnered institution.
2. Provide marketing materials and customer service to international recruiters to enhance recruitment efforts.
3. Serve as the university's marketer and recruiter of international students to meet aggressive enrollment goals. Advise prospective international students about application, visa, and enrollment procedures for the University.
4. Review international applications for admission consideration.
5. Execute extensive knowledge of foreign education credentials is critical.
6. Manage all documentation required for international applicants to secure a U.S. visa.
7. Work closely with operations staff to expedite international application processing personally as needed. Also, maintain strong record keeping in student information system to create a complete electronic profile of each recruited student.
8. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
9. Assist with research and development of the international marketing strategy and implement-approved plans in coordination with Director of Graduate Admissions.
10. Assist Director of Graduate Admissions with other duties that will benefit the growth and development of the incoming class quantity and academic profile.
11. Other miscellaneous assigned duties that arise during the course of the annual admissions cycle.

12. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.

Qualifications
1. Bachelor's degree required.
2. Master's degree preferred.
3. Fluency in one or more foreign languages required.
4. Strong international student focus.
5. Proven international recruitment experience.
6. International working/living/studying experience.
7. Proven ability to collaborate and lead across cultural, ethic, linguistic, and religious lines.
8. Ability to design and manage international projects/agents.
9. Extensive international travel required, both domestic and internationally (approximately 50%).
10. Ability to travel and work evenings and weekends. Must have valid driver's license and passport.
11. Exceptional public speaking, presentation, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
12. Extensive knowledge of foreign education credentials is critical.
13. Strong computer skills with proficiency in MS Office products and web applications required.
14. Ability to serve as part of a team and demonstrate a proven ability to establish priorities and work independently.
15. Excellent writing, organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to establish priorities and manage time wisely in a relatively unstructured environment.
16. Possess and keep up to date a thorough knowledge of SEVIS, OPT, knowledge of F1 and J1 visa regulations and general knowledge of Immigration laws and regulations.
17. Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.
18. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
